THE ARTIST

I proudly serve in the Royal Canadian Navy, where my dedication to duty meets my diverse interests. Among my passions, my friends often commend my wide-ranging abilities. Photography, in particular, captivates me. As a self-taught photographer residing in Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, I find solace and inspiration in capturing the beauty of people, nature, and landscapes.

For me, photography transcends mere hobby; it's a profound form of expression. Each click of the shutter reveals a fragment of my creative essence. Through the lens, I paint stories with light, transforming fleeting moments into timeless treasures. I view the camera not just as a tool, but as an extension of my vision, a conduit for my imagination to take flight.

In the world of photography, the true magic lies not in the equipment, but in the person behind it. This sentiment resonates deeply with me. It underscores the belief that it's the photographer's perspective, skill, and passion that breathe life into each frame, turning ordinary scenes into extraordinary narratives. These words echo in my mind, reminding me of the profound responsibility and privilege that come with wielding a camera.

In 2014, my photographic prowess earned me the esteemed 1st place position in the Flora & Fauna Category at National Geographic Canada, all thanks to my captivating "Portrait of a Fly" image. It fills me with immense pride to have my work selected and acknowledged amidst a staggering array of six thousand photo submissions.

Furthermore, my dedication to photography has been duly recognized by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Over nine consecutive years, I have been honoured with prestigious accolades, including the highly coveted Photographer of the Year award twice and the esteemed People’s Choice Award five times, spanning from 2011 to 2015. These accolades were presented to me by none other than the Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff (VCDS) of the Canadian Armed Forces, in the heart of Ottawa, Ontario. Such recognition serves as a testament to my commitment and passion for the craft.
