PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD  & 2nd Place - Environment Category (Advance Classification): "The Force of Nature"

In 2015,  I won the People's Choice Award for my image entitled "The Force of Nature" from the 2015 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Photography Contest. The same image also won 2nd Place - Environment Category (advance classification).  This year makes me the Peoples Choice Winner for five consecutive years!

I received the award along with other major award winners from the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, LtGen Guy Thibault, which was held at the Canadian War Museum last November 25, 2015.

The image was taken last March 2015 during the photo tours I joined on an Icelandic beach called Reynisfjara. The weather was unpleasant, but I assumed that situation was an opportunity to capture the dynamic feel of the sea and sky in monochrome.  It lies approximately 110 miles from Iceland's capital, Reykjavik and features an impressive cliff of regular bailout columns resembling a rocky step pyramid called Gardar.

Another winning image of mine was a 1st Placer in the Environment Category (advance classification) entitled " Iceland."
